Echelon Satellite, Inc. is a pioneer in the field of space-based efficient decentralized architecture and applications design and concept. Echelon Satellite is an affiliate of Virtual Geo Satellite, Inc. (VGI), and a holder of current and anticipated satellite operator licenses from the Canadian and US regulatory authorities (ISED and FCC). The Canadian grant authorizes Echelon Satellite to begin construction and deployment of its proprietary elliptical orbit satellite system based on fixed ground tracks, the Virtual Geo system. The system has already been homologated and approved for deployment by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Accordingly, and through partnerships, Echelon Satellite is now also 1) focusing on satellite- based blockchain development and 2) has conceived a novel approach to Positioning. Navigation and Timing (Virtual Geo’s “active” αPNT™). These two developments are poised to provide, among other services, added security and robustness to digital financial transactions such as crypto currencies and NFTs.
The Virtual Geo system was originally conceived to provide high-quality, broadband Internet access to small low-cost user terminals located anywhere on the Earth. The service provided, which includes streaming video in multicast, unicast and broadcast modes will, in terms of cost and user experience, be comparable to the broadband terrestrial services available in densely populated areas of developed countries today.
As mentioned, the design of these apps takes full advantage of the additional degrees of freedom offered by its constellation and variable geometry of its space architecture that all add robustness and nearly hacker-free position and navigation information, an especially attractive feature for high-value assets and targets, and secure critical digital transactions.
To bolster its business prospects and increase penetration in newly identified market segments, Echelon Satellite has embedded the VGI’s elliptical orbit system with a variety of high demand apps for which the Virtual Geo’s architecture allows unique implementations. For example, no other system presently planned or in service allows the synchronization of timing signals, a key element for the security and speed of financial transactions in blockchain and crypto currency applications.
Echelon Satellite’s initial constellation will serve the markets of the northern hemisphere and the equatorial and tropical regions around the globe. Northern Hemisphere markets, where much of the world’s population resides, account for the bulk of the demand for Echelon Satellite’s services. Echelon-VGO’s flexibility allows it to deploy later a southern sub-constellation, should market forces dictate. The initial northern constellation coverage is shown below:
